Plasmalit

Plasmalit
- The vitrified product obtained from the incineration ash plasma torch vitrification process is classified as non-hazardous waste (cf. European waste classification). The Vivaldi program* showed that this vitrified product (commercial name Plasmalit) meets all points of the definition of an inert waste suitable for landfill. The results of the study of its long-term behaviour are of the same order of magnitude as those obtained for natural basalts; they show its long-term harmlessness and its stability for over 200,000 years.
- Plasmalit appeals to concrete product manufacturers for its dark colour and gloss, as well as its environmental qualities. Recycling studies meeting the requirements of French and European standards revealed the possibility of using this material in flagstones or paving stones as a substitute for natural granite. Europlasma is currently working in partnership with an Italian laboratory to use this material in construction (as acoustic and thermal insulator).
- Plasmalit complies with French standard NF12620.
