Hazardous Waste Destruction
FAQ
- What are the dimensions of a plasma process unit?
The dimensions of the full unit (Plasma Heating System + auxiliaries + furnace + fume treatment) depend on the quantity and kind of waste to be processed.
As regards fly ashes destruction, the installation is compact compared to the incinerator: the vitrification furnace is several times smaller than the incineration furnace. Flue gases can be sent directly to the incinerator fume treatment (without major modifications), as its emitted gas volumes are smaller than for incineration. - What are the levels of heavy metals and dioxins emitted in the furnace?
Under the action of the plasma torch, the residues to be treated are melted and transformed into glass. At 1600 °C, heavy metals are integrated as oxides into the glass matrix and dioxins are entirely destroyed. Thus no dioxins are emitted in the furnace and no free heavy metals remain in the glass matrix. - What is Plasmalit?
Plasmalit is the commercial name given in France to the vitrified product obtained after ash melting and which can be sold to the construction and abrasives industries. - What is Cofalit?
Cofalit is the commercial name given in France to the vitrified product obtained after asbestos melting and which can be sold to the construction and abrasives industries.
